Alternative Gifts Market

The Alternative Gift Market is a program designed to give consumers other choices besides "traditional" holiday gifts. Shoppers can donate money to global, national, and local non-profit agencies in lieu of a wrapped gift. With each purchase, participants receive an explanation of the agency and cause they are donating to, as well as a free holiday card which they can give instead of a gift. Shoppers dedicate their donations to their friends, family, and ultimately back to the world.

1 Share for Family Food Assistance in Walla Walla, WA (through Helpline): $5
1 Day's Transportation for a Young Woman to Promote Education for Girls in Sierra Leone (through Youth Development Initiatives): $5
1 Community Leader's Technological and Legal Training to Bring Clean Water to Rural India (through Whitman Direct Action ): $5
1 Clinic Visit for a Refugee in Darfur, Sudan (through Medical Assistance Programs International): $2
1 Tree Seedling to Revive Deforested Haiti (through Quixote Center/Haiti Reborn): $1

Alternative gifts will be on sale in Reid Campus Center during lunch November 26th - 30th and in both the Reid Campus Center and the Jewett Foyer December 3rd - December 7th. You can also visit the CCS during our office hours which you can find here: Contact Us.
