Every February Whitman College participates in an annual food drive involving the entire city of Walla Walla. The Center for Community Service conducts a campus-wide food
drive through to contribute to the
overall city totals. In 2007, we raised over 700 pounds of food through
donations from faculty, staff, and students. All proceeds went to the
Blue Mountain Action Council Food Bank.
In 2007, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Gamma, Phi Delta
Theta, Beta Theta Pi, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Chi, and the Community
Service Interest House helped implement this project by putting
donation bags on each residence hall and office door. The Center for
Community Service staff also put donation bins in Reid Campus Center,
Memorial Building, and Penrose Library for students living off campus.
