Make a Difference Day

Stream Restoration Project

Sustainability SCORE participants return to a Creating Urban Riparian Buffers site with their folks to plant an area that they prepared in August during SCORE.

Make-A-Difference Day is October 27, 2012 from 8:15am - 11am.

Make-A-Difference Day is a National Day of service.  Join thousands of volunteers around the country to "make a difference" in your community.  This year Whitman College and the Walla Walla community have come together to support 14 service projects that address identified community needs in the following areas: Basic Needs, Health and Wellness, Education, Arts and Culture, Neighborhoods and Communities, and the Environment.

We will have a kick-off event on campus at 8:15am where Lawson Knight from the Blue Mountain Community Foundation will share some remarks about the Elements of a Healthy Community.  Each of the 14 service projects for the day address these elements.  Following the kick-off event, students, faculty, and staff will work in the community to complete the projects.

We encourage groups and individuals to sign up to serve on a project.  For more information on how to sign up, please contact Abby Juhasz, the Community Service Coordinator, at communityservice@whitman.edu.
