12:00 p.m. - Sheehan Gallery exhibit featuring thesis projects of graduating studio art majors. Open until 5:00 p.m. (Sheehan Gallery, Olin Hall)
8:00 p.m. - Harper Joy Theatre Production: Trelawny. Adapted from Sir Arthur Pinero's Trelawny, by Aubrey Woods, George Rowell, and Julian Slade. May 17-19. Tickets go on sale April 23. Call the Box Office for more info: 509-527-5180. (Alexander Stage, Harper Joy Theatre)

1:00 p.m. - Intercultural Center Open House. (Glover Alston Center)
1:30 p.m. - 2001 and 2010: Whitman students climb Africa's highest volcanoes. Bob Carson (Professor of Geology and Environmental Studies) will give an illustrated lecture on the 2001 and 2010 expeditions to East Africa with Whitman students. The emphasis will be on volcanoes in Tanzania and Kenya. The participants climbed the active volcano Oldoinyo Lengai, ascended to the polar glaciers atop Mount Kilimanjaro, hiked up the dormant volcano Mt Longonot, and investigated the shrinking Lewis Glacier beneath Mt. Kenya’s Point Lenana. (Hall of Science 151)
2:15 p.m. - Pat Spencer (Professor of Geology and Chair of the Department of Geology) will thank Emery Bayley and Geoff Clark (both Whitman '62) for their gifts of Pacific Northwest mineral specimens in honor of Dick Clem, Professor of Geology, 1951-1974. (Hall of Science 151)
2:20 p.m. - Geology Open House. Meet the geology professors, and marvel at fossils, minerals, rocks, geologic maps, posters of student research, and other displays. Children may play in the stream table. (First floor, Hall of Science)
3:30 p.m. - Baccalaureate. All graduating seniors and their families are encouraged to attend. (Cordiner Hall)
4:30 p.m. - Book Discussion, Q&A, and Book Signing by 2012 Commencement Speaker Eric Schlosser. Books will be available for purchase on site. All graduating seniors and their families are welcome to attend. (Young Ballroom, Reid Campus Center)

11:00 a.m. - Commencement Ceremony. (Memorial Building south lawn) **Please note the Commencement Ceremony will also be broadcast indoors by webcast at Kimball Auditorium and the Young Ballroom in Reid Campus Center.
1:00 p.m. - Post-Commencement Luncheon (Memorial Building north lawn)
1:00 p.m. - Chemistry Graduates Reception. A reception for Chemistry graduates and their families will be held immediately following Commencement. (Hall of Science)
5:00 p.m. - Astronomy Department Solar Eclipse Viewing Party. Join professors from the Astronomy department to view the solar eclipse after Commencement. Telescopes with protective filters and eclipse viewing glasses wlil be available. Event runs until 7:00 p.m., but will be cancelled in case of clouds or poor weather. (Roof of the Science Building)
