CAREER PLANNING IN A TOUGH ECONOMY

The Whitman College Student Engagement Center is pro-actively addressing the difficult economy to help students and alumni with job seeking strategies.  Of primary importance: start early, develop a focus, be flexible, network, and utilize the expertise of the Student Engagement Center staff.  Special events this spring to help with finding internships and jobs:

  • Fri., 10/2, Alumni Networking Reception, 1-2 PM Reid Coffeehouse.
  • Wed., 10/7, International Internships & Careers, 4 PM, Reid G02.   
  • Fri., 10/16, Community Organizing Networking Reception, 3-4 PM, Reid Coffeehouse.
  • Tues., 10/27, Law School Panel, 11 AM-noon, Reid G02.
  • Tues., 10/27, Graduate School Fair, noon-3 PM, Reid Ballroom.
  • Thur., 11/4, Find a Summer Internship Over Winter Break, 4 PM, Reid 207.
  • Wed., 11/11, Take a Year off, Make it Count, 4 PM, Reid 207.

The staff continues to pursue up-to-date information on hiring trends, job search strategies and ideas for their continuing education.
