Nominations

Nominations for ASWC are conducted by the Standing Nominations Committee. This body is composed of the Nominations Chair (currently Julia Nelson), a representative from the Oversight Committee, and four members of ASWC who are not involved with the governing entity.

The Nominations Committee is responsible for nominating all of the salaried and appointed positions of ASWC. To learn more about these positions please select from the list below, or if you need an application, click here. Below is a timeline of Spring 2009 nominations:

External Committee Positions: Student Budget Committee, Library Committee, Council on Student Affairs, Student Life Committee, General Studies Committee, Student Technology Advisory Committee, College Athletic Committee


     Applications available March 2nd

     Applications due: March 13th at Midnight

     Applicant Interviews: March 31st-April 6th

     Nominations public to the Senate and entire campus: April 12th

     Feedback period: April 12th-18th

     Nominations confirmed at Senate Meeting: April 19th

 

College Committee Nominations

Whitman College has many committees with student representatives on them. These committees are formed for a host of purposes. There is undoubtedly one that will appeal to you.

Campus Media Nominations

ASWC has several campus media entities: our student newspaper the Pioneer, the radio station KWCW, the literary magazine blue moon, and the incoming student handbook called The Source. ASWC hires the chief officers of each of these entities.

Programming Nominations

ASWC is responsible for a number of programming entities: The Public Speakers Office, the Public Events Office, and many special events for which we hire directors. There are a number of ways that you can work with ASWC to bring both educational and fun programming to campus through these Offices, so check them out.
