Dear Member of the Class of 2008,

On behalf of the Alumni Board of Directors, it is my great pleasure to congratulate you on your graduation and welcome you to the Whitman College Alumni Association! Although you are no longer a Whitman student, your participation in the Whitman community has only just begun and may be extended far beyond the years you’ve just spent in Walla Walla. It’s all up to you.

I hope you will take full advantage of the great programs and events that await you and the extraordinary opportunity you have in front of you to connect with fellow Whitman alums. Although there may be years between us, we share a common past that creates a unique, instantaneous bridge.

As a member of the Whitman College Alumni Association you will be offered occasions to connect with fellow Whitman alums in your area and across the country through:

• Career networking,
• Social events,
• Charitable projects,
• Educational programs,
• Local, national and international trips, and
• Cultural and artistic events.

The relationships you form by participating in these events are invaluable and like many before I believe you’ll find the rewards to be significant. You may greatly advance your efforts to secure an internship or job. You may learn of exciting post-graduate opportunities you never knew existed. You may discover a network of support and friendship when you move to a new, unfamiliar place.

So get out there and get to know your fellow Whitman alums! This is your Association and it will be what you make of it. If you have suggestions for alumni events in your area, or ideas for improving communication and sustaining the Whitman community beyond the boundaries of Walla Walla, let me know, or contact the Alumni Office or any Alumni Board member. We want to hear your thoughts and ideas.

Again, congratulations on reaching this significant milestone in your life. I wish you all the best as you embark on your your post-college endeavors and I look forward to connecting with many of you at a future alumni event!
