What has been your favorite class at Whitman?
My favorite course, to this day, is freshman year Encounters. I could not believe how one engaging professor and a room full of talented thinkers could illuminate subjects that had previously alienated me. Some of my close friends have come from my Encounters class experience, and my professor is still a beloved mentor.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Think of the college process as a match to be made, rather than a prize to be won. It is important to research thoroughly and think hard about what school you wish to attend; however, keep reminding yourself that the outlook you bring with you to college will be far more important in defining your college experience than the school itself.
What has Whitman taught you outside of the classroom?
Whitman has taught me the importance of jumping into classes, activities, and opportunities that terrify me or that at the time I do not believe myself to be capable of. By forcing oneself into challenging situations, with the help of the many supportive people in a strong community, it is amazing what you can accomplish.
What special skills do you have?
I am an expert at impersonations of celebrities and just about anyone I have observed.
