Oddball filmINTERNSHIP SITE: Film and media studiesMAJOR: INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION The primary focus of Oddball Film + Video is to collect, archive and distribute unique, interesting and special media footage. Ann researches archival footage, enters them into the database and maintains the film, media and digital database in an organized and updated manner. She also edits film reels, logs films and writes film subject descriptions for clips. BEST ASPECT OF YOUR INTERNSHIP “The best aspect of my summer internship is the people I work with at Oddball. My supervisor and other staff are very knowledgeable about films. They have taught me many things about films that are beyond theories. I really enjoy listening to them and gaining experiences along the way in handling and preserving old films. It is also great to interact with other interns during lunch breaks. Since we all love film, we talk about film all the time. In fact, we may potentially collaborate on film projects in the future. Also, whenever someone finishes his/her internship, we always have a farewell party. We enjoy cake, and they share their experiences at Odd- ball as well as future plans. We also exchange contact information so we may all stay in the loop of the film industry. Once, an intern from five years ago returned to visit my supervisor, because the film she produced in Hong Kong was entered into a film festival in San Francisco. I met her and learned about her path as an independent filmmaker in China. It was a unique opportunity for me, because I aspire to become a respected Asian American filmmaker.”
