Nelson visits sites to ensure that the property is being properly maintained, orga- nizes volunteer restoration work parties, manages and updates the property databases and conducts outreach through advertising and the seasonal Land Trust newsletter. BEST ASPECT OF YOUR INTERNSHIP “If I had to choose asingle best aspect it would have to be the freedom I’ve been given to explore all the dif- ferent facets of the land trust and discover which ones inspire me most. My main goal at the start of this internship was to find something I would love to do as a career, or at least after graduating from Whitman, and I think I’ve found that. A land trust is not only an organization I would find fulfilling and engaging, but there are positions within the land trust that suit my skills and my strengths. Never in my life have I been able to say ‘I would love to do (blank) as a job!’, other than when I was 8 and wanted to be a professional baseball player. That fell through. The point is that the freedom of this internship has allowed me to explore all the aspects of the land trust, thereby discovering what I would like to do with my future: environmental law.”
