She will screen and recruit newly admitted trauma patients. BEST ASPECT OF YOUR INTERNSHIP “The best aspect of my internship has been working alongside the spectrum of individuals at OHSU. Respond- ing to trauma admits in the ER, I’m exposed to the work of radiologists, anesthesiologists, trauma surgeons, emergency room doctors and other physicians. Running assays and entering data in the lab, I’m learning from research scientists and other pre-medical students as they discuss their own paths. At the weekly lab meetings and trauma surgery department conferences, I get to watch medical students in action. I’m getting a picture of what it might mean to pursue a career in medicine. This breadth of exposure is exciting and deeply enriching. It’s proving invaluable as I consider which path to take in the medical sciences – there are avenues out there that I did not know existed.”
