internships Alisha Marshall ’13Whittie2o12 tri-state steelheaders, walla wallaINTERNSHIP SITE: biology-Environmental studiesMAJOR: INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION Alisha develops and implements a water quality monitoring plan for streams that run through the cities of Walla Walla and College Place in order to collect baseline water quality data and use them to inform restora- tion priorities for future projects. She makes these data available to the public and to other agencies. BEST ASPECT OF YOUR INTERNSHIP “The best aspect of my internship has been my greatest success, which has been securing permission to test at 14 various locations along the creeks. This process was long and involved identifying the landowners at a spe- cific location, contacting the landowners, waiting for the reply and agreeing what days and how often I would be on their property. I am very grateful to my supervisor, Tara Patten, for helping me with this process. She has many contacts along the creeks through her work with CURB.”
