BEST ASPECT OF YOUR INTERNSHIP “I enjoy the stimulating variety of tasks in my week, but the best part of my position is the staff I work with. Columbia Land Trust has assembled a crack stewardship team of dedicated and experienced professionals. Many have spent time working in environmental consulting at the Department of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife and other land trusts. I am continuously surprised by the breadth and depth of their knowledge in everything from timber operation to hydrology to legal contracts. The practical knowledge I’m gaining from my supervisors is invaluable. Every person I talk with at the land trust has different advice on how to pursue a career in conservation, so I’m gaining job counseling as well. Despite their considerable experience, they have been happy to explain unfamiliar work to me and guide me through challenging projects.”
