Elliot Anders. A Chemical Study of Mill Creek: Biological Oxygen Demand,
Septic Tanks, and Forest Fires. Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Elliot graduated
from Whitman College and works in the computer software industry. He is
also the upcoming co-author of a environmental chemistry text with Professor
Dunnivant.
Heather Elizabeth Barr. Phthlates and Cosmetics: A Literature Review
and Proposal for Study. Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Heather graduated
from Whitman College, completed a tour of duty with the Peace Corps, and
enrolled in graduate school at the University of Washington.
Year 2002
Eric Abby. Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) Concentration
by High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Fluorescence Detection.
Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Eric graduated from Whitman College and
works for Hewlet-Packard as a chemist.
Celest Bolin. Optimization of the Quantitative Detection of Anions using
Ion Chromatography. Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Celest graduated from
Whitman College, worked in a research lab at the University of Montana,
and later enrolled in graduate school in the same program.

Elizabeth Cox. The Presence and Effects of Estrogenic Compounds in Wastewater
Effluent. Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Elizabeth graduated from Whitman
College and enrolled in graduate school at The University of California
(Davis).
Samantha L. Saalfield. Two Applications of Lake Sediment Geochemistry
to Environmental Processes. Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Samantha graduated
from Whitman College and enrolled in graduate school at the Univeristy
of New Hampshire.
Joshua Danial Wnuk, Desorption Kinetics of Hydrophobic Compounds from
Lake Sediment Suspensions. Advisor: Professor Dunnivant. Josh graduated
from Whitman College and enrolled in graduate school at Johns Hopkins
University.

Nathan Thomsen. Characterizing the C-terminal/4-Helix Bundle Interface
of the BRCA1 Ring Domain and its Role in BARD1/BRCA1 Ubiquitin Ligase
Activity. Nathan is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program, UC Berkeley,
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Megan Bruemmer Phosphoprotein Isotope-coded Solid-Phase Tag Approach for
Enrichment Analysis of Glycoproteins from Complex Mixtures. Megan is enrolled
in the Ph.D. program at UC Boulder (Biochemistry).
Julia Gilden. Exposure of Human Dendritic Cells and Macrophages to Brugia
Malayi Microfilariae Elicits Differential Effects on Cell Viability and
Subsequent cytokine expression By Autologous CD$+ Cells. Julia is enrolled
in the Ph.D. program, UC SanFrancisco (Immunology).
Denise Kirstein. Investigation of the effects of cytochrome P450 inhibitors
alpha-naphthoflavone and ketoconazole, and ALDH1A1 inhibitor DPAB on the
oxidation of all-trans retinal to retinoic acid in human HL-60 leukemia
cells. Denise is enrolled as a M.D. student at St. Louis University School
of Medicine.
