Freshman season (2007) - Played in all 20 games, starting 19 of them in her rookie season ...Quickly established herself as one of the fastest defensive backs in the conference ... Earned All-Northwest Conference Honorable Mention recognition at season's end ... Also contributed one assist on the season ... Also competes on Whitman's club cycling team.

Prep - Started three varsity seasons for coach Karsten Hoffmann and the Totems at Sammamish High ... All-KingCo Conference honorable mention in each of her three seasons ... Received her team's Coaches Award in 2004 ... Played club soccer for coaches Kevin VanGaver (Eastside, Lake Hills Pumas) and Dan Berry (Emerald City) ... Also ran four seasons of high school track at Sammamish, placing 10th at state in the 800 meters in 2006 ... Qualified for district championships and All-KingCo honors in each of her four seasons, competing in multiple events ... Named her track team's Most Outstanding Athlete in 2007.

Personal - Kate Margot Newman was born on Nov. 3, 1988, in Couer d' Alene, Idaho ... Daughter of Maureen and David Newman of Bellevue ... Has one younger sister ... Volunteer activities have included a three-week mission trip to Rwanda (summer 2006) with the Rwanda Partners ... Has also organized holiday gift-giving for underprivileged children ... Enjoys photography and baking...Plans after Whitman include possibly joining the Peace Corps or Teach for America, traveling, and graduate school.
