Added an 11th-place effort at the Bigfoot Open and capped his season by placing 20th at the NWC Championships and 50th at the NCAA Div. III West Regional ... In two large races midway through the season, placed 85th at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle and 71st at the Charles Bowles Invitational at Willamette.

Sophomore season (2005) - Finished a team-high 23rd at the NWC Championships, improving his placing by a whopping 30 spots from the previous season ... Also registered Whitman's best finish at the NCAA Div. III West Regional, placing 45th ... Opened the season with a 10th-place showing at the Whitman Invitational ... Ran 14th at the Lewis & Clark Invitational ... Finished in the upper half of two large races, placing 143rd at Seattle's Sundodger and 114th at Willamette's Charles Bowles Invitational.

Freshman season (2004) - Placed 25th in his first two college races, the Whitman Invitational and the Lewis & Clark Invitational ... Wrapped up his season by placing 50th at the Bigfoot Open and 53rd at the NWC Championships.

Prep - Ran cross country as a junior and senior for the Mariners and coach Mark Kerr at Bellingham High ... Credits good friend Dan Fassler with his entry into competitive running, starting with the track & field season of his sophomore year at Bellingham.

Academics - Majoring in chemistry at Whitman and works in the chemistry department as a tutor ... Has worked during the 2006 and 2007 summers as a research intern with Dr. James Vyvyan in the chemistry department at Western Washington University; his latest research focuses on possible syntheses of the compound canadodine, an oil found in limited quantity in the ylang-ylang tree (native to the Philappines and Indonesia), that has been shown to fight liver cancer cells ... Spent his 2007 spring semester in a study abroad program in Ecuador.

Personal - Son of Stephen and Diane Woods of Bellingham ... Has one older sister, now attending the University of Richmond School of Law, and a younger brother, an undergraduate at Occidental ... Has participated in the last five Ski-to-Sea relay races, starting at the top of Mount Baker and ending in Bellingham Bay; as a runner, joined with cross country skier Adam Airoldi, downhill skier Ryan Thomas, road biker Eric Dahlgren, canoers Dustin Wilder and Justin Palmer, mountain biker Michael Nibler, and kayaker Brendan Mulholland to finish two of the relays in first place in the high school division ... Plays intramural football, basketball, volleyball, soccer and frisbee at Whitman.
