WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Whitman College women’s club softball team, as it reorganizes this fall, is welcoming new players.
Students interested in playing can contact team captain Laura Sanchez, a junior from Antioch, Calif., by e-mail at sanchelm@whitman.edu.
The new club team will see its first fall action in a tournament at Walla Walla Community College on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2. Whitman plays its first home games on Saturday, Oct. 15, when it hosts the University of Idaho in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
Mike West and David Mummy, two Whitman students, are serving as coaches. Holly Nelson, a visiting instructor of psychology, is the team’s faculty sponsor.
Other students on the roster are Jos Barden, Kim Hooyboer, Bre Adams, Veronica Prout, Veronica Willeto, Katie Firman, Katy Gonda, Chelle Ritzenthaler, Elly Harding, Emily Blurton, Nikita Parekh and Athena Macy.
