Whitman Lands Three on Women's Soccer All-Region Team

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Three members of the Whitman College women's soccer team have been named to the NCAA Div. III All-West Region Team.

Kristen Berndt, a sophomore forward who led Whitman in scoring for a second consecutive season, was named to the All-Region Second Team. Two of her teammates, Erin Frame and Sammie Arthur, earned spots on the Third Team.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selects the All-Region and All-America teams. The adidas sporting goods company sponsors the awards program.

Berndt, who played prep soccer at Snoqualmie's Mount Si High School, topped Whitman in scoring this past fall with nine goals and six assists, earning All-Northwest Conference First-Team Honors. She is the daughter of Tim and Susan Berndt of Manson, Wash.

Frame, a junior defender and graduate of Issaquah (Wash.) High School, helped anchor a Whitman defense that produced six shutouts, including three games that ended in 0-0 overtime ties. A team captain this season, she is the daughter of Peter and Kathleen Frame of Issaquah.

Arthur, a junior forward and graduate of the Branson School (Ross, Calif.), had eight goals and one assist last fall. Also a team captain, she is the daughter of Michael and Molly Arthur of Tiburon, Calif.

Both Arthur and Frame earned All-Northwest Second-Team honors at the end of the fall season.
