WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Andy Huntington, a sophomore forward on the Whitman College men's soccer team, has been named to the All-Northwest Conference Second Team.
Huntington had five goals and two assists this fall, playing in 16 of Whitman's 19 games. He led Whitman in scoring for a second consecutive season, and he ranked fifth in the NWC in shots, averaging .2.69 per game.
"Andy is the ultimate goal scorer," Whitman coach Mike Washington said. "He enjoys the pressure of the moment and thrives on the challenge of beating people in one-on-one situations. He's very quick, strikes the ball well and is competent in the air. He does his best when he's given the freedom to play in an unrestricted environment. That is where his creative flair comes out."
Of the 22 players named to the NWC's First Team and Second Team, all but three are seniors and juniors. Huntington was one of three sophomores named to the teams.
Huntington, a graduate of Seattle's Garfield High School, is the son of David and Jane Huntington of Seattle.
