WALLA WALLA, Wash. - A pair of five-day youth soccer camps have been scheduled for this summer at Whitman College.
The camp for girls begins on Sunday, June 26, and continues through Thursday, June 30. The boys camp begins Wednesday, July 6, and ends on Sunday, July 10. Both residential camps are for players from ages 11 to 18.
The camp coaching staff includes Whitman men's coach Mike Washington, Whitman women's coach Scott Shields, and Walla Walla Community College men's and women's coach John Charman. Other camp coaches are Scott Ritts, an assistment men's coach at Whitman; Mike Duncan, the coaching director for the Seattle area's Northshore Youth Soccer Assocation; and Mart Oostrom, who received one aspect of his coaching certification through the Royal Netherlands Football Association. Both Ritts and Oostrom are coaches in the Tri-Cities Youth Soccer Association.
Members of the Whitman men's and women's soccer teams serve as camp counselors.
Training and instruction takes place at the Whitman Athletic Fields, a 120-acre complex located two blocks north of campus. During the camp, participants stay in a Whitman residence hall and eat in one of the campus dining facilities.
A year ago, the two camps attracted about 120 participants.
Cost of the camp is $375 per player. For more information, call Washington (509 527-5286) or check the following links:
