Schmitz, Boese Nab All-NWC Recognition in Women's Soccer

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Katey Schmitz and Kim Boese, the only two seniors on the Whitman College women's soccer team, have earned All-Northwest Conference honors.

Schmitz, a midfielder, was named to the All-NWC Second Team. Boese, a defender, earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Schmitz, who had three assists in her final college game, finished her senior season with two goals and 10 assists. She tied for the conference lead in total assists.

In her four seasons, Schmitz collected 17 goals and 17 assists. She earned All-NWC First Team honors in her first season, when she led Whitman in scoring, and was named to the Second Team following her junior season.

In her four seasons, Boese helped anchor a defense that produced 15 shutouts. She also scored three goals and contributed three assists from the back line.

A psychology major at Whitman, Schmitz is a graduate of Bellevue (Wash.) High School. She is the daughter of Claudeen Tewell of Medina, Wash., and Peter Schmitz of Bellevue, Wash.

Boese, a German studies major at Whitman, is a graduate of Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, Wash. She is the daughter of Douglas and Teresa Boese of Edmonds, Wash.
