Buckingham Leads NWC in Digs, Earns Second Team Honors

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Lyndsay Buckingham, a senior libero on the Whitman College women's volleyball team, has earned All-Northwest Conference Second Team honors.

Buckingham led the NWC this season in both total digs (479) and digs per game (5.51). She set a new Whitman single-season school record in digs per game.

An outside hitter in her first three seasons at Whitman, Buckingham moved to the libero spot this fall and topped the NWC in digs throughout the season. She collected 30 or more digs in four matches, including a career-high 33 in one four-game match.

As a junior, Buckingham served a total of 41 aces, which ranked her second for Whitman and fifth in the NWC. She also enjoyed one of her best nights as an outside hitter during her junior season, slamming 16 kills in one four-game victory while hitting a lofty .429.

In her four seasons, Buckingham amassed career totals of 847 digs, 357 kills, 97 service aces and 47 blocks.

A biology-environmental studies major at Whitman, Buckingham is a graduate of Skyline High School in Issaquah, Wash. She is the daughter of Karen and Boyd Buckingham of Sammamish, Wash.
