Whitman Men's Scoring Leaders
2000-2001 Season

Sophomore Andy Knapp was the clear-cut scoring leader for the Whitman men's golf team during the 2000-2001 season. Knapp played a team-high 19 rounds in competition, averaging 76.6 strokes per round. His best score was 71, which he carded twice during the season. He shot in the 70's in all but four of his 19 rounds. His two highest scores (82, 83) were posted in March at the new Bandon Dunes Golf Course on the southern Oregon coast.

Knapp wrapped up his season by placing second in the Northwest Conference championships in late April, playing three rounds at central Oregon's Tokatee Golf Course in 1-over par.

Junior Adam Heyd, who played 17 rounds during the season, was next in line for the Missonaries with a 79.7 scoring average. His best round of the season was a 3-over par 74 at Tacoma's Lake Spanaway Golf Course.

Freshmen Niels Larson, who joined the golf team in the spring after playing varsity soccer in the fall, averaged 80.4 strokes for his 13 rounds of golf. He broke 80 in seven of rounds, including a 1-over par 73 at Walla Walla's Veterans Golf Course.

Erik Scott edged Doug Whitfield for fourth place on Whitman's scoring ladder. Both sophomores played 17 rounds, with Scott averaging 85.0 -- less than half a stroke in front of Whitfield. Scott made his best showing during the NWC Championships, shooting 2-over par 74 during his opening round.

Senior Joey Bristol rounded out Whitman's top six, averaging 88.5 strokes for his 17 rounds.
