1996 Whitman Volleyball Team Awards

Two juniors and two sophomores received season-ending team awards. In a vote of the players, sophomore Mandy Rockwell took home her second Most Valuable Player Award in two seasons, while junior Wendy Wilford accepted the Most Inspirational Award after missing last season due to injury.

Sophomore Ashley Gelvin received the Most Improved Award. Coach Dean Snider presented junior Stephanie Meier with this year's Coaches Award.

Rockwell, an outside hitter who shared team MVP honors with Meier a year ago, posted some impressive statistical numbers during the 1996 fall season. She led the team in kills (362), digs (442) and service aces (59).

Meier, a middle blocker, paced Whitman in blocks (91), was second in digs (297) and third in kills (168).

Wilford, an outside hitter, was third in digs (283), fourth in kills (155) and second in assists (147).

Gelvin saw limited playing time in her first season of collegiate volleyball.
