Ski with the President
Save the dates! • Jan 25-27, 2008 • Sun Valley, Idaho

Days on the slopes, warm nights of camaraderie with fellow Whitties and President George Bridges will make this a weekend to remember.

Group gatherings begin with a reception with Walla Walla wines and heavy hors d’oeuvres at a beautiful Sun Valley home on Friday night (transportation from the lodge provided). Enjoy après-ski cocktails, dinner, a special program and talk by Kevin Pogue, professor of geology, on Saturday; a festive farewell dinner on Sunday will complete this fun Whitman weekend. $200 per person covers dinners and reception; bar drinks are no-host.

Rooms have been blocked at the Sun Valley Lodge for the nights of January 25-27; those who want to come early or extend their vacations beyond the group weekend should call for reservations soon. Make your room reservations and payment through Sun Valley Lodge, 800-786-8259; tell them you are with the Whitman College Alumni Association group. Room rates vary, depending on what type of lodging you select. Unsold rooms will be released November 30, so don’t delay! Lift tickets are $68 per day (with a multi-day discount), and can be purchased at the Lodge.

Reservation deadline December 15, 2007. To register and pay for meals, RSVP to the Whitman Alumni Office, (509) 527-5167, or (800) 835-9448, ext. 1, or email hoglund@whitman.edu.

Upper Missouri River, Montana, canoe expedition,
with Don Snow, senior lecturer in environmental humanities

Canoe the Missouri River with Whitman Alumni and Friends in August 2008The Upper Missouri River in Montana is one of the premier canoe trips in the United States. It is part of the National Wild and Scenic River System, and runs for 149 miles through a spectacular canyon carved into the prairie country of central Montana. The Whitman canoeing adventure will cover the most dramatic 108 miles of the Upper Missouri River National Monument. You'll pass by the vistas Lewis & Clark described as "scenes of visionary enchantment," look for the abundant wildlife of the area, and enjoy luxury camping on the banks of this mighty river. With the guides doing the camp chores, you will be able to immerse yourself in the surroundings, enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow Whittie adventurers and hear the stories of the past told by Professor Snow.
