| A Whitman College and Choral Arts commissioned piece, My Papa's Waltz, by adjunct faculty member John David Earnest, will premiere at the Choral Arts Concert Pierced to the Heart: Fathers, Sons, Mothers, Daughters. | Will Hyman ’06 and the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra in Concert "I Hear America Singing," featuring American composers including Aaron Copland and George Gershwin in an afternoon full of remarkable home-grown melodies. Lessons from 1929: The Financial Crisis in Historical Perspective with Professor of History David F. Schmitz. Friday, March 20 - 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Los Angeles At the Wallis Annenberg President’s Home of Robert and Nadine Skotheim on the Occidental College Campus. Robert Skotheim served as Whitman College’s tenth president. The current financial crisis is the greatest economic challenge to the nation since the beginning of the Great Depression. Professor Schmitz will examine the nature of the Crash of 1929, what steps leaders took to address the crisis and what we might learn today.
