Three books by Deborah Hopkinson:  "Maria's Comet", "Our Kansas Home" and her latest "Girl Wonder"
Whitman Bookstore Highlights Staff Author
Deborah Hopkinson, Director of Grants and Advancement Services, has just had three books published this year: her newest, GIRL WONDER, is the story of Alta Weiss, a woman who pitched for a semi-pro men's team at the turn of the century. Before that, OUR KANSAS HOME, the third in her pioneer series, was released. A paperback reprint of MARIA'S COMET, the story of Maria Mitchell, America's first woman astronomer is also available. Deborah has been writing historical fiction and biographies for children for years and is the recipient of the 1994 International Reading Association Award, and a Parent's Choice Silver Medal Award winner for her book BIRDIE'S LIGHTHOUSE.
