WOW was a tough choice this month as Whitman has been well represented around the world recently. Jason Tanguay, '98, made the summit of Mt. Everest on May 15, 2004, along with Whitman Director of Outdoor Programs, Brien Sheedy. Scott Hoff, '95, had a fine showing and made significant progress on Super Millionaire, May 16.

But the biggest news came when Dorothy 'Dottie' Metcalf-Lindenburger, '97, was named one of three astronaut educators on May 6, 2004, by NASA. Dottie, one of 8,000 initial applicants, was chosen to take a flight physical along with 2,000 of those applicants, and was then in a pool of 1,000 qualified candidates. She believes that her liberal arts education, enthusiasm, and commitment to physical health set her apart from the rest of the applicants.
