| Ski with Whitman's President Save the dates! • Jan 25-28, 2008 • Sun Valley, Idaho Days on the slopes, warm nights of camaraderie with fellow Whitties and President George Bridges, and an evening sleigh ride to dinner will make this a weekend to remember. Make your room reservations from the Whitman block at the Sun Valley lodge by calling 800.786.8259 (or choose a different room if you prefer); call the Alumni Office for meal reservations. $200 per person for Whitman group Friday night social, sleigh-ride and Trail Creek Cabin dinner, and Sunday buffet. Thomas Edwards, professor of history, emeritus  Travel the South from Savannah to Washington while learning about the history and culture of Civil War America. With overnight stays in Savannah, Charleston, and Richmond, you will visit battle sites, cemeteries, plantations, and museums, as well as immerse yourself in the old South all along the route. Enjoy historic hotels, southern cooking, relaxing train travel, and Whitman friends while experiencing Civil War history with Professor Edwards.Details to come later. |

August 16-21, 2008 Upper Missouri River, Montana, canoe expedition, with Don Snow, senior lecturer in environmental humanities  This Montana River canoeing adventure covers the most dramatic 108 miles of the Upper Missouri River National Monument. Begin your float by exploring the 48 mile White Cliffs section. Further downstream beyond the horizon, experience the solitude of the Badlands. Here beaver thrive, pelicans trace the valley rims, and bighorn sheep may wander into camp. Hikes will provide additional opportunity for wildlife viewing, bird-watching, the discovery of flora unique to the area and incredible photography potential.Details to come later. |
