Bookstore Features Alumni Author John Zilly, '85 John Zilly is author of 10 mountain biking and hiking guidebooks including Kissing the Trail: Greater Seattle Mountain Bike Adventures and Beyond Mt. Si: The Best Hikes Within 85 Miles of Seattle. John grew up hiking in the Washington Cascades and Olympics, and now makes his home in Seattle. Over the past 16 years, he has written about, mapped, and photographed more than 500 trails in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California. He has also volunteered his time on several occasions to lead biking trips for Whitman alumni in the Seattle area and Walla Walla.
