The Alumnus of Merit Award is the highest honor the Alumni Association bestows on an alumnus of Whitman College. This award is given to alumni who have (1) achieved distinction in their chosen field, or (2) rendered outstanding service to their community, or (3) rendered outstanding service to, and demonstrated loyal interest in, Whitman College. Members of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Overseers, and the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association are eligible three years after their last term has been served. Gordon Scribner '42
The Gordon Scribner Award was created to honor Gordon Scribner '42, former dean of students and director of alumni upon his retirement. The award is given by the Alumni Association to persons who have made a major contribution of volunteer time and effort to Whitman College over an extended period of time and possess the ability to inspire. Any alumnus/alumna or friend of the College is eligible for this award. There are no restrictions regarding board involvement. Gordon Scribner Award 2012

Pete Reid '49
The Pete Reid Award for Young Alumni is given by the Alumni Association to an alumnus whose enthusiasm is demonstrated toward his or her career, community or Whitman College as exemplified by Pete Reid '49 in his service to the College. This award is limited to graduates of the last fifteen years. Standards for recognition include outstanding recognition in his or her career or field of work or outstanding commitment in service to others, and a demonstrated commitment to Whitman College. Sally Rodgers '63
The Sally Rodgers Award for Lifelong Achievement is given to an individual who graduated from Whitman College over 50 years ago and whose life exemplifies the qualities of a liberal arts education. The Whitman College Alumni Association Faculty Award for Service is given yearly to a faculty member who has distinguished himself/herself in service to the Alumni Association. Although this service may take any number of forms, the underlying theme involves strengthening and maintaining ties between the College and its alumni. Examples of service include participation in alumni gatherings, both on and off campus, and assistance in the planning and implementation of alumni events. Faculty Award for Service 2012
