Rafting Idaho's Salmon River

Join Pat Spencer, professor of geology, rafting and exploring the rich scenic wonder that is Idaho's Salmon River. Offering challenging and exciting whitewater rafting on the "River of No Return", the Main Salmon River rafting trip drops about 1,200 feet in 89 miles.

Dawn on the Salmon River In a deep canyon, beautiful blue-green waters entice you with comfortable temperatures for rafting and quiet sections of the river and deep pools for a relaxing swim and scenic enjoyment.

Your adventure begins with moderate rapids that will prepare you for the challenging rapids downstream. Next stop, Barth Hot Springs, one of the best hot spring pools on the river. After relaxing at camp in this spectacular mountain wilderness, it's off through the mile-deep, densely-forested canyon to run several other exciting rapids. You'll have time to explore Campbell's Ferry Ghost Town and Buckskin Bill's Compound, even play some beach volleyball and take a swim. On the final day, you'll maneuver two of the largest rapids on the trip. After lunch, you'll take a scenic ride to McCall, Idaho. Hardpaddle through the rapids on the Salmon River, Idaho.

When: July 28 - August 1, 2009
Price: Base price is $1595. per person, plus optional transportation package (two hotel nights plus transportation to put-in at Salmon and take-out at McCall) of $425. (bus back to Boise) or $530. (flight back to Boise).
Deposit: $350 per person, payable to Whitman College.
