2014 Information

Scrambles 2014 Wrap Up:

This years Scrambles marked the 37th year of the Whitman College Scramble Program and once again the trips did not dissapoint. This year we had 20 trips with 64 student leaders and 184 first year students go out into the field. Scrambles travelled as far as the San Juans Islands WA to sea kayak and the Salmon River ID to kayak and raft. Backpacking trips were divided up amongst the Strawberry Mountains OR, Elkhorn Mountains OR, Wallowa Mountains OR, Olympic Peninsula WA, and North Cascades WA while canoers crossed Ross Lake WA and rock climbers climbed at Smith Rock OR. The average trip length was 8 days. 248 participants x 8 days = 1,984 Scramble participant days + 248 Scramble leader training days (4 day trainings) = 2,232 total Scramble program participant days in the field. That's 2,232 days in the beautiful outdoors with great company. The OP would like to thank everyone who participated in this years Scrambles, everyone contributed to another successful year of trips.
