If you have exceptional talent, experience, and demonstrated skills in theatre and intend to make a strong contribution to the theatre program during your four years at Whitman, the College invites you to apply for a President’s Scholarship in Theatre.
Students receiving the President’s Scholarships are expected to be active contributors to the department and by participating in at least two productions a year in the Harper Joy Theatre. As upperclassmen it is anticipated that scholarship recipients will take on leadership roles in the theatre and mentor newer students.
President’s Scholarships are awarded to entering students in recognition of exceptional talent. The scholarship meets all of the student’s demonstrated financial need when combined with scholarships or grants from any other sources and varies from $2,500 to $47,000 per year, according to need. President’s Scholarships for students without demonstrated financial need will range from $2,500 to $6,000 per year, depending on available monies. Precise scholarship amounts will be listed in the student’s Financial Aid Award letter. Financial need is determined annually by the Office of Financial Aid Services using data from both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile.
The Theatre Department will be interviewing candidates for the President’s Scholarship on campus, Saturday, March 5, 2016. In fairness to all applicants, no other interview dates will be allowed.
