Jon St.Hilaire is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who lives on a farm in Lowden, Washington with his wife Diana and an unspecified number of dogs. Originally from New England, Jon settled in the Walla Walla area in 1975 and promptly began playing Bluegrass music with the Ryegrass String Band, which is still going with most of the original members. Over the years Jon has played in Cajun, Irish and Swing bands, in the pit at Harper Joy Theatre, a few times as banjo soloist with the Walla Walla Symphony — Gershwin and PDQ Bach, in case you're curious — as well as in countless contra dance ensembles and wedding bands.

Jon teaches beginning to intermediate guitar, specializing in folk and contemporary styles. He also teaches mandolin, banjo, and ukulele. He has studied with David Byrd and John LaChapelle. He owned and managed The Sound Post, a full-line music store for eleven years before accepting a teaching position at Whitman College in 1993.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Jon gardens, and is an amateur photographer and history buff.
