Gary Gemberling is a native of Great Falls, Montana, earning his B.M.E. in 1980 from Montana State University and M.M. in 1992 from the University of Idaho. He has performed with The Russ Morgan Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Lou Rawls, Claudio Roditi, The Temptations, Lionel Hampton New York Big Band, and toured nationally with Broadway musicals. He has performed as guest soloist with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, Spokane Jazz Orchestra and Spokane British Brass Band. Gary also spent several years performing at Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens Theme Parks. He has played the club circuit throughout the U.S. and Canada and opened for concert performances by major artists. Gary continues to perform with the Idaho Brass Quintet at the University of Idaho and in several jazz combos and big bands. He stays busy with his work as a clinician, adjudicator and guest artist throughout the northwest and is in his twentieth year as instrumental and vocal director at Lewiston High School. Gary is the Music Coordinator for the Lewiston Schools whose duties include hiring and supervising music teachers, curriculum implementation, developing music teacher schedules, budget analysis and preparation, organizing monthly music meetings, and managing the district musical instrument inventory. He has been President of the Idaho Music Educators Association and is currently the music representative on the Executive Board of the Idaho High School Activities Association. Gary became one of Idaho’s National Board Certified music teachers in November, 2003.
