Science Outreach

The Science Outreach program at Whitman College began in Fall 2009 with a grant from The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI).

The Outreach component of the HHMI Grant included:

1.  Developing a Summer Institute and Workshop Series for Middle School Science Teachers.

2.  Placing Whitman students in middle school science classrooms through the WSSC (Whitman Students in Science Classrooms) program.

3.  Facilitating both existing and new outreach activities between Whitman College faculty and students and our community.  Find out more at Science Outreach Activities and News.

The 2011-2012 school year was the final year of HHMI funding, but the College has decided to maintain the program so that we are able to continue many of our activities and even add some new ones!  For more information about what we have been up to, read our latest newsletter or visit our news page.
