Learning Styles Coalition
The Learning Styles Coalition welcomes all incoming, transfer, and returning Whitman students who have a learning disability. The group began in response to student interest and has provided an opportunity for those involved to form a supportive network of friends and allies. Group members are able to gather in a safe environment to explore how their respective disabilities and their variety of learning styles affect their personal and academic lives.
The LSC is confidential and led by a student member of the group trained to facilitate these meetings. Occasionally the group will invite a professional to provide information on strategies for achieving optimum academic, mental, and physical health.
There is not a strict commitment level for this group. Students are encouraged to arrange their priorities as best suits them and to participate in LSC meetings as desired. If you have a learning disability, please consider joining this group at some point during your time at Whitman.
To find out more information about these confidential meetings, please contact: Julia Dunn, Associate Dean of Students, at (509) 527-5158. You may also stop by the Academic Resource Center in Memorial, Room 205.
