Hall of Science

Hall of Science

The 105,000 square-foot Hall of Science underwent a $20 million renovation and expansion in 2003. The facility now features state-of-the-art faculty/student research labs, enhanced classroom space, and a building-wide wireless network. Some of the research equipment and facilities available include a scanning electron microscope, planetarium, biochemistry laboratory and greenhouse, as well as several large telescopes on the roof and instrumentation rooms where students have access to modern scientific equipment. The building also features Smart Spaces and a staffed computer lab

Other recent changes in the science building include the creation of several new faculty research labs — in chemistry, geology and biology — to meet the needs of new faculty and the increasing emphasis on opportunities for faculty-student collaborative research.

Bones in the Science Hall

The fall of 2008 saw an additional update to the Brattain Auditorium in the Hall of Science. The new configuration of 60 tiered seats with recessed laptops enables students to perform virtual labs during class.
